Opera at Sleepy Ridge...

This is the raw, roughly 1-1/2 minute clip of an aria performance I caught while filming material for a promo video I produced for Sleepy Ridge Weddings. Unbeknownst to me, the performer happened to be the father of the bride, and an opera singer from France, no less!

I was literally running up the stairs with a heavy Steadicam rig to the 3rd floor (I had just finished shooting exteriors) when I heard this powerful voice belting out an incredible aria. I only wish I could've caught all of it, but as these things happen at weddings, there wasn't any warning, and sadly, there was no professional videographer on hand to capture the moment...but I'm glad I was able to catch what I did.

Sleepy Ridge Promo Video

This is a promo video I recently produced for Sleepy Ridge Weddings, a new reception site in Orem, UT.

Amazingly, none of the couples in this piece had a professional videographer on hand for their big day. I was happy to be able to shoot some of their receptions and provide some footage for their memories, but wow, the one that really stuck out was the ballroom dancing couple, where the bride's dad is an actual opera singer from France! He performed an amazing Aria for the couple and the guests, and it was a powerful moment I will never forget.

I'm sorry, but stills just aren't enough sometimes. I was lucky I caught the moment for the couple and for Sleepy Ridge.

This video will be shown at the SR grand opening in a few weeks, and will also be posted on brideaccess.com. A shorter commercial will air on the brideaccess.com show on abc4 in a few weeks too.

Special thanks to Ken and Linda Sorenson of Lifelong Memories Films for their help in producing this video. http://lifelongmemoriesfilms.blogspot.com/

And Now For Something Completely Different...

Alex and Tania: Rock Band Edition! (AKA "Phantom of the Rock Band")

Ok, I gotta hand it to these guys for letting me talk them into doing a "music video", but with the way cool concept of hanging out and playing Rock Band. ;) They were fearless!! Both are Rock Stars, and Alex gets a special Medal for playing the drums with kitchen utensils!(we couldn't find the game drumsticks)

Now where things get kinda sci-fi-ish was where the time traveler known as "Old Man Alex" suddenly appears to jam with the currently young and vivacious Tania! (I could swear I saw a DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor outside the studio while we were shooting)

I can't say that he aged all that well, but as you can see near the end of the video she loves him just the same!

Sneak Peak of San Diego!

Wow, as Barlow said below, it was great to be back in our old stompin' grounds of Southern Cal. Bryce and Brittanie were so much fun to shoot with! Here's a sneak peak of their shoot--more to come!

Brittanie and Bryce, San Diego Temple, SDE

Here's the Same Day Edit that played yesterday at their reception. These guys were fantastic to work with and got a lot of 'congrats' from people as we filmed along the beach.

I miss SoCal sometimes.(lived there for 12 years) It's hard to beat those wonderful beaches but I got over it pretty quickly when we hit ridiculous freeway traffic halfway between San Diego and Orange County on a Saturday afternoon. ;)

Ben and Jessica, Photo Montage w/Video

This is a short segment from Ben and Jessica's photo montage. (it was the last stuff after all the "growing up" pictures)

I shot a little bit of footage during both their engagement and bridal shoots when I wasn't busy lugging gear around for the bossy photographer. (just kiddin' Lannie!) Hopefully we'll do more of this sort of thing for photo montages. It makes for a really stunning finale.

Btw, this has to be seen in full HD Blu-ray! Stunning!

Ben and Jessica, Temple Video

As you will be able to tell from the video, this was a really busy day at the Salt Lake Temple. (windy too!) Ben and Jessica's family turnout was HUGE, and wow, there was a lot of love to go around for this couple!

One thing I enjoy about doing wedding films is having the privilege and honor of documenting the joy that families share on these occasions.

Thanks for letting me preserve the memories!

Side note:Ben and Jessica chose a mellow piano instrumental for their video. ("Shades of White" by Jim Brickman) I liked it for a change of pace!

Toni and Ashley, Date Video

As they say: "The couple that plays together, stays together." ;-)

Lots of classic sporting moments in this piece...hah hah. This was a lot of fun to shoot.
